The Workshop Instructor
Erik Sandgren is well known to our Northwestern artists. Workshop participants appreciate his extensive knowledge of painterly strategies and processes as well as the individual attention given to each member of the group. His private workshops and lectures around the Northwest are well attended. It will be exciting to see what Erik and this group will do in this teaching/learning format with the multiple small and large-scale vistas offered by our property at McKenzie Orchards.
See Erik's work at www.eriksandgren.com ,

The Class Project
The weekend will be a participatory workshop of discussion, painting assignments, and demonstrations, rain or shine. We will respond as painters to the immediate environment of McKenzie Orchards. This workshop will emphasize painterly composition using watercolor or acrylic, warm/cool color relationships, expressive shape making, and the planar interpretation of landscape spaces.
Participants are asked to bring their own painting materials and two or three failed paintings to work into in relation to our exercises and discussion points.
Demonstrations will be in aqueous media - acrylic and watercolor.
For serious painters of all levels of experience.
